Scrollable pages are pages on the site that contain more information than can be reflected on the screen. Access to information that does not fit on the page is provided by scrolling down the page. Scrolling refers to scrolling the visual portion of the browser window horizontally or vertically. The Windows operating system, for example, is not large enough to display all of the content on a page at once. That is why by scrolling, the user can view all the content on the site in fragments.
Scrolling is one of the fundamental ways a user navigates a page. There are many ways in which scrolling occurs. You can scroll page-by-page or line-by-line. Most browser windows can be scrolled using special hardware such as a mouse, keyboard, touchpad, and touchscreen.
Today there are only two types of scrolling:
- Vertical scrolling is the scrolling of the page from top to bottom. This type is the most common. This is because most sites or programs fit the width of the screen, not the height.
- Horizontal scrolling is scrolling that occurs from one side of the page to the other. This type of scrolling is most often found in spreadsheet programs that can be extended.
Some applications and websites will not automatically fit the width of the window if it is too small. In this case, you will need to use horizontal scrolling.
